We’re undertaking a comprehensive initiative to establish Telerik and Kendo UI as the most adaptive and responsive component libraries on the market. While our components already support responsiveness and adaptiveness, this effort is a complete reevaluation and enhancement designed to set a new standard. Over the course of 2025, we will roll out significant updates across our library, including adaptive improvements to core components like the Grid, Toolbar, and Forms, as well as new page templates and building blocks tailored for mobile-first design.

 Highlights of the initiative include:

  • Q1-Q2 2025: Adaptive enhancements to Toolbar, Pager, and Popup components, setting the foundation for more flexible layouts.
  • Q1-Q3 2025: Transforming the Grid with new data presentation modes, improved mobile usability, and adaptive side panels.
  • Q2-Q3 2025: Advancing form capabilities with multi-column layouts, input enhancements, and full responsiveness.
  • Q4 2025: Adaptive updates for major components and the introduction of mobile-first building blocks and templates of our UI Accelerator offering.

With clear timelines, an emphasis on developer experience, and a commitment to cutting-edge standards, this initiative ensures developers can create applications that adapt seamlessly to any device or user need—delivering a best-in-class experience.

Enhancing the Grid Component with New Capabilities

Improvement

We’re introducing a series of upgrades to the Grid component, designed to make it even more functional and user-friendly. These improvements include enhanced editing and selection features such as undo/redo of edits, Excel-like selections, and group selection, providing more flexibility in managing data. Rows and columns will benefit from features like row spanning, multi-row dragging, reordering and grouping, and customizable drag handles and resizing options. Additionally, we want to add Excel-like filtering to simplify data analysis. Later in the year, we would work on improvements to persist of Grid state and adding few new features. These enhancements aim to streamline workflows and deliver a more polished and intuitive experience for developers and end users alike.

Gantt Chart Enhancements

Improvement

The Gantt chart is getting a suite of powerful updates to improve usability and interactivity. Users will now be able to change task durations by dragging the corners of task bars and adjust task completion with drag editing. Additionally, drag-and-drop functionality will allow for seamless task reorganization within the timeline. To enhance information visibility, tooltips/popovers and customizable tooltip templates are being introduced, offering greater flexibility in displaying task details. These updates significantly enhance the Gantt chart's functionality, making project management more efficient and intuitive.

Adoption of Material Design 3

New feature

We are excited to announce that the Telerik and Kendo UI Material theme will be updated to align with Google's Material Design 3 guidelines! This update introduces a modern, flexible, and visually appealing design system to help you create stunning, user-friendly applications.

To ensure flexibility, we will continue to support Material 2 with a backwards-compatible swatch, allowing you to choose the design style that best suits your needs.

Charts Enhancement to Use CSS Variables in the Color System

Improvement
This update introduces the use of CSS variables in the charts' color system, ensuring a seamless integration with dynamic theming. By leveraging CSS variables, any changes to the application's theme will automatically propagate to the charts, maintaining visual consistency across the UI. Currently, such dynamic changes are not reflected in the charts, resulting in a theming mismatch. This enhancement resolves the inconsistency, aligning the charts with the rest of the design system and providing a cohesive user experience.
